Free web hosting is not reliable. Web space is small, slow speed, sharing a server with lots of people.. the only advantage for free web hosting is "FREE".
If you like to have a low cost web hosting, i would recomand you to use shared hosting and get 4 months free. This will be much more powerful than free hosting.
Shared Hosting
The shared web hosting is an inexpensive entry point for low traffic websites, running within the setup constraints of the standard accounts. As some sites expand, the shared hosting accounts become limiting.
Dedicated server
Performance - You are not sharing the system resources such as processor power, memory and disk space with other sites on the same server.
Greater Reliability - You do not run the risk of the server being slowed down, swamped with traffic, or crashed by another site on a shared server.
Security - As nobody else has access to the server you can be sure of having a much greater degree of security.
Custom Configuration - If you need to install special software or configure the server to your own particular needs then often a dedicated server is the solution.
Custom Firewall - Run your own custom firewall to enforce your own access control policy.
Your own IP address - Most shared hosting sites share a single IP address, with site traffic directed by the server examining `host headers'. In contrast your dedicated server has its own unique IP address.
Upgrade Path - More memory, disk space or extra processors can be added as the need arises.
You also can directly visit some of the provider for more detail information, I got one here http://www.webhostforasp.net
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using free web hosting and having your own web server?
Having your own web server = total unlimited control and no ads, very flexible.
Free hosts usually are slow, you have a hsared domain directory (not your own domain name) and there are many limitations on e-mails, there are ads, limitations on web space and administration (some don't offer FTP support, no control panel, etc.).
I recommend getting your own web server, it's an investment which pays itself off eventually.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using free web hosting and having your own web server?
Well, free I think you have a limited amount you can do with your website.
Paying for it, you can do more, create more, add more, and have more storage capacity if I'm understanding you correctly.
Reply:Google web hosting services, some services allow you to pay off, and eventually purchase the server that you rent inside their data-center, and then you only have to pay for the space/power it uses.
Reply:Free web hosting is free. Having your own web server can cost you hundreds to thousands of dollars and you should only consider it if you plan on building a massive site with mountains of traffic. If you mean paid hosting as opposed to a web server, that of course costs money, however, the more you pay the better the service usually gets. Some paid hosts give you very little in space and bandwidth, others offer a lot. You have to be the final judge.
Reply:well its like asking whats the advantage of having my own vehicle and borrowing someone else's car....
in free web hosting...what u get is a extended domain name, Lots and lots of irritating pop ups ( bound 2 drive customers away) , half page full of banner ads and more of sponsored ads....all you are left is with pity space and your visitor will have a tough time on deciding which is your content and which one is sponsored.... so i guess if are serious about your business plans and want to rake in the moolah...go for your hosting, or then if just want to have your presence on the web where it doesnt matter whether u exist or not u can go for a free server....anyway just visit http://rightwebhosting.blogspot.com/ you might find some good hosting companies that will suit your need..
