If someone's on a really tight budget, they need to use freewebs.com. Is it worth it to go indie?

Web hosting gives you a lot more control over your website and you get to choose your www.whatever.com name instead of it being www.freewebs.com/whatever





But if you're on a really tight budget, I recommend getting a DotTK website cause then you can make your website name www.whatever.tk Theres just a small add on your website. A link to DotTK is in my sources.

You can customise your website alot more with your own hosting. But if you choose to use freewebs you have to have their advertising and your more limited in the things that you can do.





You can still get www.yourname.com for freewebs pages.


and just because you get hosting, doesn't mean you get a domain name for free www.yourname.com). You have to buy that separately which costs extra on top of the Hosting fee.





A great free web host is called www.freehostia.com, which is probably the best free website host ive ever used. it has high bandwidth and 250mb space, which is comparable to many hosts which charge you money.

EDIT: the person above me suggested a TK domain, although i wouldn't. they used to have barely any ads, but now you go to an advertisement page before your website. go to an example of a tk website to understand what im talking about (www.xboxfans.com).


You should invest in a domain name as they are fairly cheap these days. you can pick one up for around $10 per year. try www.godaddy.com.

I would recommend a free hosting site that lets you use your own domain name if you can afford the $10 a year for the registration. http://www.dakotawebhosting.com gives you free ad supported hosting with a domain registration.
