What is the best free web hosting site out there?
one with the most space, no ad banners, the most support, etc., for free? like with no fee at all, ever? i found two or three on google and its driving me nuts trying to decide. are they really free? thought i could use some opinions from people who have had experience...i'm just kid after all :-/

If you are just starting out and if you don't really know how big your customer base will be, try shared hosting. Its very econimcal low priced and some even offer a lot of bandwidth.

But if you're on a really tight budget, I recommend getting a DotTK website cause then you can make your website name www.whatever.tk Theres just a small add on your website. A link to DotTK is in my sources.

I would recommend a free hosting site that lets you use your own domain name if you can afford the $10 a year for the registration. http://www.dakotawebhosting.com gives you free ad supported hosting with a domain registration.

Reply:If you are serious about creating websites for your business, don't go for free webhosting as they are not reliable and you may end up losing all your work. They usually put ads on your websites and it could be annoying.

Reply:Free hosting is ad supported so you will have a few ads on your site and like the other people said most of the free hosting sites don't allow you to use your own domain name. I would recommend a free hosting site that lets you use your own domain name if you can afford the $10 a year for the registration. http://www.dakotawebhosting.com gives you free ad supported hosting with a domain registration.

If you bought a UPS and powered your web server with it you would have approx. 99% uptime unless there was a disaster of some sort or you forgot to pay your electricity bill. You would first need to do what you do with any business and that is to devlope a business plan and market survey. You need to find out of your business model can actually make any money in the market you are in.
In the case of hosting there is a lot of guys already in the market but that does not mean you can't make a go at it.
I would probably start by just being a reseller to get an idea if I can even market hosting and make money at it. As you gain in customers you could move to having your own server either by renting from the hosting company you resale for or build a server and set it up at a co-location site. Once you get enough business you could then move to your own site with your own redundant systems, etc or stay at the co-location site.
