Reply:I'd built a website with Front Page before, I uploaded it to Freewebs. I'm not sure if they allow FrontPage Extensions.

I'd suggest that you name the index of your website, or home page Index.html though. (Maybe just index.)

Should an organization use a web hosting service or maintain its own server? Why?

It would depend on the traffic they could expect to see, and the budget they have.





Sometimes, a shared webserver can work, and depending on the host, can work for medium as well as low traffic sites. For high traffic or a very large website with a lot of audio/video, a Dedicated server at a hosting company would be better - as it will support the site better and you won't have the running costs, staff costs, maintanence costs, etc, associated with hosting your own servers.





If you are a large corporarion, and need more than one server, then having your own T1 line or greater, and an IT person may be your best solution, as you would have complete control over every aspect.

No company in their right mind is going to offer unlimited space and bandwidth. And if they do, they won't be able to keep their claim.
Reply:Buy and old computer on Ebay, install linux on it and make your own server. It's a lot cheaper and you have more control over it.

It is well worth the cost, just for the web prescence alone. Yahoo store takes care of practically everything, and the templates are easy to use. You can, however, out grow it as the web code is different from HTML and won;t allow you to do certain things easily if at all. If you have a basic store with a basic sale idea then it is well worth it.
